This particular Tuutaq was found in an abandoned, ancient village on the Bering Sea Coast. It is estimated to be over 100 years old. That is the only information provided by the person I obtained this from. It is made from Walrus Ivory. This labret once sat tightly in a pierced hole in the lip of an ancient Iñupiaq man over 100 years ago. It is rare to come across such a valuable piece of Iñupiat history. So for those considering purchasing; please note that this is an artifact and should not be worn/used. It is best kept as an artifact. It was carefully cleaned so that the tuutaq does not decay over time.
