This particular Tuutaq (labret) was found in an abandoned, ancient village on the Bering Sea Coast. It is made of Walrus Ivory that has fossilized significantly more than the rest of the tuutaq I have on hand. It is estimated to be over 100 years old. This is the only information I obtained from receiving this treasure. This labret once sat tightly in a pierced hole on the lip of an ancient Iñupiaq man over 100 years ago. It is rare to come across such a valuable piece of Iñupiat history. It has been carefully cleaned so that this artifact does not decay over time. So for those considering purchasing, please note that this is an artifact and should not be worn/used. It is best kept as an artifact.
