This miniature box drum is made from western Red Cedar, acrylic paint and yellow cedar dowels. The box is made from a single plank and steamed and bent to form the box. It depicts the Devil Fish or octopus of which the area i live in has the largest octopus in the world. Inspiration came from the repatriated box drum that belongs to the Mount Fairweather (Snail) house of the T'akdeintaan clan in Hoonah, Alaska. Which had a carving on the closed part of the drum, which is quite unique. This is not a copy of that drum but my own take on that concept.
